I once traced my family's names back. Not the family tree, just the names.
My dad's name - McMinn - is definately scottish, but ...
Mc = son of, Minn = Mingis = Menzies = Mency = he came over from France with the Normans.
My mum's name - Parry - is definately welsch, but .....
Parry = Ap Harry = Son of Harry de Beaufoncourt who was given land by .....
You guessed it: William the Bastard (and that's not swearing! It was his official name until he conquered Britain)
So I'm French, but ....
Normans = North men = They came from the north where the blond hair and blue eyes reign.
How come they were/are dark haired and brown eyed?
